What Are Prepositions?

Prepositions are words or groups of words that show relationships involving time, place, direction, and spatial relationships, usually placed before nouns, pronouns, or noun phrases. Examples include ‘in’, ‘at’, ‘on’, ‘of’, and ‘to’. While prepositions can be idiomatic, there are rules for using them in sentences, best learned through memorization.
