The second Chapter of Class 7 mathematics deals with Fractions and decimals
Fraction word actually come from breaking a whole into equal parts. Like if you cut a pizza into 4 equal slices and eat 1, that’s 1/4. A decimal is just another way of writing the numbers with a dot.
Fractions show parts of a whole, like half a cupcake or 2/5 of a chocolate. Decimals are just another way to write those fractions, like 1/2 = 0.5. We use decimals when we write money (₹2.50), measure lengths (1.75 m), or even check marks in exams (9.5/10).
Learning both fractions and decimals in Class 7 is very important because they are the basics for bigger topics in algebra, geometry, and higher maths. This is why the NCERT textbook ensures that the students practice them step by step using worksheets, so that students can solve them without any complications either in examination or in real life.

A fraction refers to the division into equal portions. As an illustration, when I ask myself to cut a chocolate bar that has 4 components and eat 1/4 and get 1/4.
The same thing can be expressed in the decimal form. As a case in point, one-half cake may also be represented as 0.5. In case my score in a test is 9.5/10 then that makes it a decimal score.
Fraaction can be considered as a piece of a pizza and decimals can be considered as a way of writing the same value in the slice as a number with a dot. Each of the two assists us in our day-to-day lives in which we speak about money (2.75), time (1.5 hours), or marks (7.25/10).
