Important: NEET UG 2027 will be a computer-based test, as announced by the Centre and confirmed by NTA. NTA has not yet announced the NEET 2027 question count or marking scheme. JEE Main 2027 registration opened on October 24, 2026, and NTA has released the 2027 syllabus. Check the JEE Main 2027 information bulletin for the final paper pattern.
A change in examination dates does not automatically mean a change in the question paper. Yet announcements about NEET and JEE often circulate without that distinction, leaving students unsure whether to replace their mock tests or revise their chapter lists.
Ask what the official notice actually changes. A registration instruction affects how you apply. A revised marking scheme affects how answers are scored. A headline alone cannot tell you which one you are looking at.
This guide separates verified announcements from claims that still need confirmation. It also explains the recent pattern changes behind some of the confusion and how to continue preparation while waiting for the relevant 2027 instructions.
Open the original notice through the NTA website, JEE Main website, or NEET website. A screenshot carrying an NTA logo is not enough.
Check the examination year and the exact rule being discussed. An authentic 2025 notice remains a historical document when shared with a “2027 update” caption. Read subsequent corrections too, since an earlier bulletin may have been amended.
JEE Main and JEE Advanced also require separate checks. Advanced information comes through the organizing IIT and the official JEE Advanced website, rather than being established by a JEE Main notice.
Keep a record of the notice date, applicable year, and relevant paragraph. Changes do not always arrive months ahead. Keep checking for corrections after the main bulletin is released.

The confirmed change for NEET UG 2027 is the exam mode. After the NEET UG 2026 paper leak, the Centre announced on May 15, 2026, that NEET would move to computer-based testing. NTA’s Director General confirmed the shift on September 14, 2026. NTA has not released the 2027 bulletin yet. The number of questions, marking scheme, shift schedule, and normalization rules are still unannounced
NTA released the JEE Main 2027 notification on October 24, 2026, and opened Session 1 registration. Session 1 will now be held on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28, 2027, replacing the dates in the September calendar. Session 2 is scheduled for April 2–7, 2027. NTA has also published the 2027 syllabus, which shows no changes from 2026. Confirm the paper structure and marking scheme in the 2027 information bulletin.

| Maximum marks | 720 | 300 |

These figures come from the respective 2026 bulletins. JEE Main Paper 2 has different arrangements and is not represented by the Paper 1 column.
For NEET, yes, in one respect: the 2027 exam will be computer-based. Other parts of the NEET pattern have not been announced. For JEE Main, no pattern change has been reported for 2027, and the syllabus is unchanged.
Claims about altered question counts, a different examination mode, or revised negative marking need an applicable official notice. Without one, treat the claim as unconfirmed. Do not remove chapters or change your entire mock-test routine because of a forwarded message.

A proposal, media discussion, or coaching prediction may describe something under consideration. That is different from an instruction candidates must follow. Some reports are still unconfirmed. For example, The Indian Express reported that NEET 2027 may be spread over 5 to 6 days in multiple shifts. Treat this as unconfirmed until NTA publishes the 2027 bulletin.
Two earlier changes explain why older practice papers may look different.
JEE Main’s optional numerical questions were removed for 2025. NTA’s notice dated October 17, 2024 discontinued the choice within Section B. The section returned to five questions per subject, without the previous selection option. This rule took effect in 2025 and has not been announced again for 2027.
NEET returned to 180 questions in 180 minutes for 2025. The January 25, 2025 notice removed the optional Section B and the additional time introduced during the COVID period. The 2026 bulletin retained that question count and standard duration.
A later correction also matters. The JEE Main 2026 bulletin’s mention of an onscreen calculator prompted NTA to issue a correction on November 2, 2025. NTA said the mention was a typographic error and that calculators were not allowed. Candidates who read the correction knew what to expect on exam day.
Older papers remain useful for questions, but their timing and optional sections need checking before they are used as full examination rehearsals.
Use the latest available official syllabus to continue studying chapters and solving questions independently. Write its year on your checklist. JEE aspirants can now compare their checklist with the published 2027 syllabus. NEET aspirants should do the same once the 2027 syllabus is out.
Let the confirmed notice determine which part of your study plan to revise:
Leave some room in the timetable for adjustments. There is no need to abandon completed learning because one part of the examination changes.
Students need to know how an announcement affects their next study session. Our teaching and practice tools help them adjust without restarting preparation.
Ask how your NEET courses or JEE course shares exam updates and how any revised test format will be introduced. Shared announcements should link back to the official notice.
Keep the examination year attached to every pattern claim. Use published rules for practice, then make specific adjustments when the relevant authority confirms a change.
This page will be updated as verified 2027 information becomes available. Explore Infinity Learn’s NEET/JEE programs or book a free demo class to discuss your preparation needs.

Use NTA and the relevant NEET or JEE Main portal. For JEE Advanced, follow its separate official website and organizing IIT announcements.
There is no fixed cycle. Check each year’s bulletin and later corrections instead of assuming either an annual change or permanent continuity.
Not for rumors. Wait for an official notice before changing your plan. The NEET move to computer-based testing is confirmed, though, so NEET aspirants should start practicing on screen.
Confirm the communication channels included with your course. Ask for the original official notice alongside any shared update and clarification about affected classes or tests.
The latest confirmed change is NEET UG’s move to computer-based testing from 2027. Before that, the 2025 changes removed JEE Main’s optional Section B choice and returned NEET to 180 questions in 180 minutes.
