Question 1: Find the perimeter of a square whose side is 5 cm.
Solution:
Perimeter = 4 × side = 4 × 5 = 20 cm
Question 2: The area of a rectangle is 630 cm² and length is 35 cm. Find the perimeter.
Solution:

Breadth = Area ÷ Length = 630 ÷ 35 = 18 cm
Perimeter = 2 × (Length + Breadth) = 2 × (35 + 18) = 106 cm

Question 3: The length of a rectangular field is four times its breadth. If the perimeter is 800 m, find the length.
Solution:
Let breadth = x, length = 4x
Perimeter = 2(length + breadth) = 800

2(4x + x) = 800 → 2(5x) = 800 → 10x = 800 → x = 80 m
Length = 4 × 80 = 320 m
Question 4: Find the area of a rectangle 12 m long and 7 m wide.
Solution:
Area = Length × Breadth = 12 × 7 = 84 m²
Question 5: A rectangular lawn is 10 m long and 4 m wide. It is fenced along two smaller sides and one longer side leaving 1 m gap for entrance. Find fencing length.
Solution:
Fencing length = 4 + 4 + 10 - 1 = 17 m
Question 6: Find the perimeter of a rectangle with length 15 cm and width 10 cm.
Solution:
Perimeter = 2 × (15 + 10) = 2 × 25 = 50 cm
Question 7: If each side of a square is halved, how does its area change?
Solution:
Side halves, area becomes (1/2)² = 1/4 of original area.
Area becomes one-fourth of the original area.
Question 8: Find the area of a square with side length 12 cm.
Solution:
Area = side² = 12 × 12 = 144 cm²
Question 9: If the perimeter of a square is 160 m, find the side length.
Solution:
Side = Perimeter ÷ 4 = 160 ÷ 4 = 40 m
Question 10: Find the perimeter of a rectangle whose length is 8 cm and breadth is 6 cm.
Solution:
Perimeter = 2 × (8 + 6) = 2 × 14 = 28 cm
Question 11: A rectangle is 20 m long and 10 m wide. What is its area and perimeter?
Solution:
Area = 20 × 10 = 200 m²
Perimeter = 2 × (20 + 10) = 60 m
Question 12: Calculate the area of a triangle with base 10 cm and height 6 cm.
Solution:
Area = 1/2 × base × height = 1/2 × 10 × 6 = 30 cm²
Question 13: Find the perimeter of a triangle with sides 7 cm, 9 cm, and 12 cm.
Solution:
Perimeter = 7 + 9 + 12 = 28 cm
Question 14: A garden is shaped like a rectangle, length 30 m, width 15 m. Find fencing needed.
Solution:
Perimeter = 2 × (30 + 15) = 90 m
Question 15: Draw a rectangle with length 12 units and breadth 8 units, and find its area.
Solution:
Area = 12 × 8 = 96 square units
Question 16: Find the side of a square if its perimeter is 36 cm.
Solution:
Side = Perimeter ÷ 4 = 36 ÷ 4 = 9 cm
Question 17: The area of a rectangle is 50 cm² and breadth is 5 cm. Find length.
Solution:
Length = Area ÷ Breadth = 50 ÷ 5 = 10 cm
Question 18: If the length of a rectangle is three times its breadth and perimeter is 48 cm, find length and breadth.
Solution:
Let breadth = x, then length = 3x
Perimeter = 2(x + 3x) = 48 → 2(4x) = 48 → 8x = 48 → x = 6 cm
Breadth = 6 cm, Length = 3 × 6 = 18 cm
Question 19: Find the area of a figure composed of two rectangles joined together: one 5 cm by 4 cm and other 7 cm by 3 cm.
Solution:
Total Area = (5 × 4) + (7 × 3) = 20 + 21 = 41 cm²
Question 20: If the perimeter of a square is doubled, what happens to its area?
Solution:
New side = original side × 2
New area = (2 × side)² = 4 × (side²) = 4 times original area
Question 21: A rectangular room 8 m long and 6 m wide is to be carpeted. Find the area.
Solution:
Area = 8 × 6 = 48 m²
Question 22: Find the length of the rectangle if perimeter is 50 m and breadth is 7 m.
Solution:
Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
50 = 2(length + 7) → length + 7 = 25 → length = 18 m
Question 23: The perimeter of a rectangle is 60 cm. If the length is 20 cm, find the breadth.
Solution:
60 = 2(20 + breadth) → 30 = 20 + breadth → breadth = 10 cm
Question 24: Find the perimeter of a rectangle 14 cm by 9 cm.
Solution:
Perimeter = 2(14 + 9) = 2 × 23 = 46 cm

Solution:
Length = 2 × 12 = 24 cm
Perimeter = 2(24 + 12) = 72 cm
Question 28: If the side of a square is increased by 3 units, find the increase in area.
Solution:
Original area = s², New area = (s+3)²
Increase = s² + 6s + 9 - s² = 6s + 9
Question 29: Draw a border 1 cm wide inside a rectangle with length 20 cm and width 10 cm. Find perimeter of the inner rectangle.
