What is Articles?

Articles are little words, but they are very useful in making sentences correct.
Articles are words that come before nouns to show whether the noun is specific or general. Their are three articles in English grammar a, an, and the.

Types of Articles

There are mainly two types of articles that we learn in English grammar:

  1. Indefinite Articles (a, an)

These are used when we talk about something general or not specific.

‘A’ is used before words that begin with a consonant sound.

‘An’ is used before words that begin with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u) or a silent ‘h’.
