FAQs on The Happy Prince Class 9 NCERT Solutions

What is the prince’s motivation for sending Ruby to the Seamstress? In Her House, What Does the Swallow Do?

The seamstress's son was in critical condition. He was bedridden and in desperate need of treatment and nutritious meals. The seamstress, on the other hand, was unable to purchase either oranges or the medications required to care for her baby and bring him back to health.

The prince took notice of their predicament. He sent a ruby to the seamstress's house for her son because he was nice and sensitive. He asked her to sell it and get whatever she needed to care for her sick son. The prince told the swallow to go to the seamstress's house with a ruby in its beak. They placed the gem on her son's bedside table with care. To cheer him up, the bird waved its wings over the ill little boy's head as he lay down. He returned to the Happy Prince once his mission was completed.

Why Didn't the Swallow Go to Egypt Instead of Leaving Happy Prince?

After accomplishing all of the prince's chores, the swallow planned to travel to Egypt. When it was ultimately completed, however, the prince had lost his eyes while assisting the needy. Because of his compassion, the swallow could not leave the prince alone and vulnerable. When the swallow noticed the prince’s companions' sadness, it resolved to assist them as well as the Happy Prince. The swallow made the decision to stay and always be there for the prince. The swallow's act of self-sacrifice exemplifies how assisting others and being in the company of kind individuals influenced the bird positively. The bird opted to stay with the prince rather than fulfill its dream of flying away to Egypt because the prince had made such an impression on it.
