The Class 10 History textbook contains five chapters. However, students should note that the assessment scope is not identical for every chapter.
For the 2026–27 board examination, only Subtopics 1 to 1.3 of The Making of a Global World are evaluated. The Age of Industrialisation is assessed through periodic assessment rather than the board examination.
The Class 10 History syllabus includes five chapters. Each chapter page contains questions based on its main themes, events and concepts.

The first chapter examines the emergence of nationalism in Europe, the French Revolution, the development of nation-states and the unification of countries such as Germany and Italy.

Students should revise concepts such as liberal nationalism, conservatism, revolutionary movements, allegories of nations and the role of culture in developing national identity.
This chapter explains how the struggle against colonial rule developed into a national movement. It covers the First World War, the Rowlatt Act, the Jallianwala Bagh incident, the Non-Cooperation Movement, the Civil Disobedience Movement and the participation of different social groups.

Students should understand not only the sequence of events but also why different groups joined, supported or sometimes withdrew from particular movements.
The Making of a Global World traces the long history of global connections. It discusses trade routes, migration, food exchanges, colonialism, indentured labour, the Great Depression and the reconstruction of the world economy after the Second World War.
Students should connect historical examples with larger themes such as international trade, movement of people, economic interdependence and unequal development.
This chapter discusses the development of industries before and after the establishment of factories. It explains proto-industrialisation, technological change, industrial labour, Indian textile production and the role of advertisements in creating markets.

Students should avoid treating industrialisation as a sudden process. They should understand how traditional production, hand labour, machinery and factory-based manufacturing existed together.
Print Culture and the Modern World explains the development of printing in East Asia, Europe and India. It explores the effect of print on religion, public debate, social reform, political awareness and the growth of nationalism.
Students should focus on how print expanded access to information while also creating debates about censorship, authority and the influence of printed ideas.
Chapter-wise practice allows students to complete revision in smaller and more manageable parts.
Instead of moving randomly between topics, students can finish one NCERT chapter and then test their understanding through related questions. This also makes it easier to identify topics that require another reading.
Important questions can support revision by helping students:
Read the relevant chapter or prescribed portion before attempting its questions. Pay special attention to the limited board-exam scope of Chapter 3 and the periodic-assessment status of Chapter 4.
Write or outline the answer before checking your textbook or class notes. This gives a more accurate picture of what you remember.
Prioritise Chapters 1, 2, the prescribed portion of Chapter 3 and Chapter 5 for written board-exam preparation.
Prepare Chapter 4 according to your school’s periodic-assessment plan.
Important questions should be used with the NCERT textbook, official syllabus, sample papers and verified previous-year question papers. They should not replace complete syllabus preparation.
