The official eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2027 will be confirmed in the information bulletin. Based on the latest available NTA pattern, candidates should check age limit, Class 12 passing year, subject combination and admission eligibility rules carefully.
In the latest official information bulletin, there is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main. The bulletin states that candidates who passed Class 12/equivalent examination in the allowed years or are appearing in the current exam year can appear irrespective of age, though they may need to meet the age criteria of the institute where they seek admission.
For JEE Main 2027, the same rule is expected to continue unless NTA changes it.
For JEE Main 2026, candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or were appearing in 2026, were eligible. Following the same pattern, candidates who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, are expected to be eligible for JEE Main 2027. Final confirmation should be checked from the official 2027 bulletin.
For admission through Paper 1, candidates generally need to have studied:
The latest official bulletin lists these subject requirements for admission through Paper 1 ranks in the NIT+ system.
For admission to the NIT+ system, the latest official bulletin states that candidates must either secure at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12, or be in the category-wise top 20 percentile of their board. For SC, ST and PwD candidates, the minimum aggregate requirement is 65%.
This admission rule is separate from appearing in JEE Main. Students should check JoSAA/CSAB rules for the final admission year.
The official JEE Main 2027 exam pattern will be released in the information bulletin. If the latest Paper 1 pattern continues, JEE Main Paper 1 will have 75 questions for 300 marks.
| Subject | Section A | Section B | Total Questions | Marks |
| Mathematics | 20 | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Physics | 20 | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Chemistry | 20 | 5 | 25 | 100 |
| Total | 60 | 15 | 75 | 300 |
The latest official bulletin states that Paper 1 has 20 questions in Section A and 5 questions in Section B for each subject, for a total of 75 questions and 300 marks. It also states that negative marking applies to both Section A and Section B.
| Response Type | Marks |
| Correct answer | +4 |
| Incorrect answer | -1 |
| Unanswered / marked for review | 0 |
Paper 1 is expected to be conducted in Computer-Based Test mode. In the latest official pattern, Paper 1 is conducted in CBT mode only, while Paper 2A includes a Drawing Test in pen-and-paper mode.
The JEE Main 2027 syllabus will include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for Paper 1. The official 2027 syllabus will be released by NTA. Until then, students should prepare using the latest available NTA syllabus.

Students preparing for JEE Main 2027 should start early and follow a structured plan. The exam tests concepts, speed and accuracy.
Start by reading the complete Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics syllabus. Mark each chapter as strong, weak or pending.
NCERT is important for Chemistry and useful for basics in Physics and Mathematics. For JEE Main, students should combine NCERT with practice books and previous year questions.
PYQs help students understand the actual question level, repeated patterns and high-weightage chapters.
Mock tests improve speed, accuracy and time management. After every mock test, analyze mistakes instead of only checking marks.
Maintain short notes for formulas, reactions, graphs and common mistakes. These notes are useful in the final month before the exam.
Revision should be continuous. Students should revise completed chapters every week to avoid forgetting formulas and concepts.
| Subject | Preparation Tips |
| Physics | Focus on concepts, formulas, PYQs and numerical practice |
| Chemistry | Read NCERT thoroughly, especially for Inorganic and Organic Chemistry |
| Mathematics | Practice daily, revise formulas and solve mixed-topic problems |
| Mock Tests | Take full-length tests and analyze mistakes |
| Revision | Maintain formula sheets and error notebooks |
JEE Main 2027 is expected to be conducted in two sessions: January and April. The official notification, registration dates, syllabus, exam pattern and complete schedule will be released by NTA on the official JEE Main website.
Students should start preparation using the latest available syllabus and previous year exam pattern. Focus on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics equally, solve previous year questions, take mock tests regularly and keep checking official updates for the final JEE Main 2027 schedule.
