Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 is expected to bring better admission opportunities for medical aspirants. The state has added 950 new MBBS seats, increasing the total number of seats from 13,049 in 2025 to 13,999 in 2026.

At the same time, the number of NEET-qualified candidates in Tamil Nadu has dropped by 19.53%. A total of 61,306 candidates qualified in 2026, compared with 76,181 in 2025. This means 14,875 fewer students qualified this year. With more MBBS seats and fewer qualified candidates, the competition during Tamil Nadu MBBS Counselling 2026 may change.
