Important JEE Guidance
- Reread the notes and make any necessary changes: The day before the exam should be spent revising the notes you made during the previous few months of study sessions. Avoid devoting too much time to mastering a new topic the day before the exam. After you’ve finished revising each chapter, take a moment to review the key formulas and concepts.
- Before the exam, take some practise tests: JEE Main is an online exam in which you must complete all of the questions within the time limit. Students are recommended to take multiple mock examinations before the actual examination to improve their speed of answering. The simulated tests assist pupils in identifying areas where they need to improve.
- Examine the Admit Card: The Admit Card is available on the official website a few days before the examination. Candidates must print their admit cards and bring them to the exam without fail. However, the details on the admit card should be double-checked after downloading. If any errors are discovered on the admit card, they must notify the appropriate authority and get them repaired before the examination.
- Familiarize yourself with the Examination Center: If the candidate lives close to the examination centre, it is recommended that the candidate visit the centre once before the exam. This allows the candidate to become acquainted with the site and estimate the time required to arrive at the examination centre.
Items to Bring to the Examination Room
The following items can be brought to the examination hall.
- The admit card, preferably a coloured printout on an A4 sized sheet is required to be carried.
- A candidate’s passport-size photograph. The photo should be identical to the one on the application form.
- An original ID proof, such as an Aadhar card or a Pan Card.
- Candidates who fall under the PwD (persons with disabilities) category must get a certificate from the appropriate authority.
Things that Should not be Taken to the Examination Hall
Candidates should be advised that some items, including electronic devices, food, and baggage, are prohibited from being brought into the examination venue. The following are some of the other items that will not be permitted in the examination hall.
- Calculators and other electronic devices
- Paper, pen, pencil or any textual notes
- Water bottles
Before the JEE Main exam, do you have a checklist?
1. Look for the following information on your admit card: name, paper, date of birth, city, test centre name, gender, state code of eligibility, and category. Any corrections should be communicated to the JEE Main conducting authority as soon as possible.

Exam Day Instructions
1. Candidates are encouraged to arrive at the centre as mentioned against the Reporting/Entry time at the centre as a precaution for COVID-19.
2. After the Gate Closing Time, the candidate will not be permitted to enter.
3. Candidates are not allowed to leave the Examination Room/Hall before the examination is completed.
4. Candidates should wait for instructions from the invigilator when the examination is completed. They should not leave their seats unless instructed. Only one candidate will be allowed to leave at a time.
5. Candidates should attentively study the COVID-19 Instructions and Advisory that came with their admit card and follow them to the letter.
6. Candidates are encouraged to attend the examination venue a day ahead of time to see the arrangements at the centre if they are able.
7. Candidates who are required to wear special apparel owing to their religion or customs should arrive early at the centre for a thorough screening.
8. Candidates will not be permitted to enter the test centre unless they have been properly frisked using a Handheld Metal Detector (HHMD). This will be done without putting any pressure on the body.
9. When it comes to the dress code, thick-soled shoes and clothing with huge buttons are not permitted.
10. Candidates will be given five blank paper pages on which to do their rough work. Before leaving the examination hall/room, candidates must write their name and roll number at the top of the document and put them in the allocated dropbox. Failure to do so may result in the responses not being evaluated.
11. At the conclusion of the examination, the duly filled Admit Card must be deposited in the specified dropbox. Failure to do so may result in the candidate’s responses not being evaluated.
12. Candidates shall not use unethical methods or engage in unethical examination practices. Exam centres are frequently monitored by CCTV cameras, and jammers are also deployed.
FAQs
Which goods are forbidden from being brought into JEE Main exam centres?
Candidates are not allowed to bring any electronic devices to the JEE Main exam day, including phones, calculators, slide rules, log tables, printed or written material, bits of paper, pagers, or any other device.
