SIQE, which stands for State Initiative for Quality Education, is a program in Rajasthan aimed at offering high-quality education to all students. SIQE is overseen by SIERT, the State Institute of Educational Research and Training.
One of its key goals is to provide students with a comprehensive and valuable learning experience, helping them acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for success. To achieve this, teachers create study plans that emphasize enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities for each student’s proper development.
Establishment of SIQE
The SIQE program was started by the Indian government in 2015. It includes Anganwadi centers to help all students in the state. The main goal is to make sure that students from different backgrounds or minority groups have equal opportunities for education.
Furthermore, the SIQE program wants to make education better in the state. They do this by giving more money to schools, helping teachers become better at their jobs, and improving technology and school buildings. This shows that the government and communities are working together to give all students a good education, no matter where they come from or their situation.
Activities of SIQE
SIQE’s motto is ‘every student can learn and teach.’ To achieve this goal, SIQE has four main activities:
- Changing How We Teach: SIQE promotes student-centered teaching and learning. Students are continuously evaluated, and the teaching methods are improved through rigorous testing and third-party assessments.
- Building Teacher Skills: SIQE offers training programs for teachers to ensure they have the necessary skills. They also hold regular meetings for teachers from different schools to exchange ideas.
- Effective Management: SIQE uses a district/block approach for planning and decision-making, ensuring efficient management. Field officials are trained to carry out their roles effectively. Joint monitoring systems help track progress and make improvements.
- Institutional Development: SIQE has two key institutions. The State Institute of Education Research and Training (SIERT) provides guidance and support for the education sector, making sure it stays relevant. The District Institute of Education and Training (DIETS) makes academic decisions at the district level, working closely with schools, teachers, and local communities. Master Trainers (MTs) assist at the district level to support this work.
