    Language Subject Replacement

The updated curriculum also includes a similar option for Class 10 students who don’t pass a language subject.

If a student fails in any of the five compulsory language subjects, they can replace it with a language subject chosen as their sixth or seventh subject. However, either English or Hindi must be passed among the initial five subjects.

According to the CBSE curriculum, “If a student fails in any language subject among the first five subjects, it can be replaced by the language chosen as the sixth subject (if no skill subjects are offered) or as the seventh subject (optional), provided that the student has passed this language. After replacement, either Hindi or English must remain as a passed language among the initial five subjects.

Health and Physical Education, Work Experience, and Art Education are considered as compulsory subjects in the CBSE curriculum. These subjects focus on holistic development and are evaluated solely through school-based internal assessment methods. This means that students are assessed based on their performance within the school environment rather than through external examinations. These subjects play a vital role in nurturing students’ physical health, practical skills, creativity, and overall well-being, complementing the academic curriculum and providing a balanced educational experience.
