NITs in India
NITs in India are the premier engineering and technology institutions in the country. They are the 30 best engineering colleges in India, ranked by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2019. NITs offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, and science. Admission to NITs is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.
IIITs in India
There are twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) in India, which are autonomous public institutes of higher education and research located in various states across the country. They were established to provide quality education in Information Technology and related fields and to conduct research in emerging areas of Information Technology.
The IIITs offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Information Technology and related disciplines. They also undertake research in various areas of Information Technology and offer consultancy services to industry and government.
The IIITs are funded by the Government of India, and are managed by a Board of Governors comprising representatives from the Government, industry and academia.
