Filling out the application for JEE Main can be stressful — one wrong spelling, an incorrect date of birth, or a wrong category can cause anxiety. But candidates need not panic. The National Testing Agency (NTA) provides a one-time opportunity via a “correction window” to fix certain errors.
If you act during this window, you can ensure that your application is accurate before admit card release. For JEE Main 2026 (Session 1), this year’s correction window is short — so it’s crucial to know exactly what you can (and cannot) change, how to do it, and what to watch out for.
| Session / Event | Dates / Status |
| Session 1 — Registration Deadline | 27 November 2025 |
| Session 1 — Correction Window Starts | 1 December 2025 |
| Session 1 — Correction Window Ends | 2 December 2025 (11:50 PM) |
| Session 2 — Correction Window | Late January / Early February 2026 |
Not all details are editable during the correction window. According to NTA guidelines, here is a breakdown of fields typically allowed versus those locked.
| Field / Category | Remarks / Specifics |
| Name, or Father’s Name, or Mother’s Name (only one change among the three) | You cannot change all three — only one name entry can be edited. |
| Date of Birth | Correction allowed if original filled DOB was incorrect. |
| Gender | Allowed to correct if wrongly selected. |
| Category / Sub-category / PwD Status | Category, sub-category or PwD status can be updated. However, changing category may involve paying additional fee. |
| Class 10 / Class 12 Academic Details (Board, Passing Year, Stream, Marks, etc.) | Editable to correct any mistake in academic entries. |
| State Code of Eligibility / Eligibility Details | If state code was wrongly selected, it can be corrected. |
| Exam Centre / Exam City Preference | You can update your exam city / preferred centre (subject to availability/allotment by NTA). |
| Medium of Examination (Language Option) | Change of exam medium is allowed (e.g., Hindi / English). |
| Paper / Course Selection (e.g., B.Arch / B.Planning / Paper-switch) | You can add or modify paper/course selection. |
| Signature (in cases where correction allowed) | If signature upload was wrong or missing, update is possible. |
Some of these policies (especially photo upload) depend on circumstances — for example, if NTA flags a discrepancy. Candidates are advised to check the official notice carefully.
Some fields remain locked even during correction window. Candidates cannot edit these once submitted.
Important: Since photograph cannot be changed, ensure you uploaded the correct passport-size photo in correct format during registration.
The correction window is the final chance to ensure that your JEE Main application reflects accurate and valid information. Given the short duration (1–2 December 2025) for Session 1, aspirants must act swiftly and carefully.
Before you log in to correct — gather all necessary documents (Aadhaar, category certificate, board marksheet), decide which fields truly need edits, double-check everything, and keep time in mind. Once corrected, download the confirmation page and store it safely.

Don’t delay. Log in to jeemain.nta.nic.in the moment the correction link goes live, review your application carefully, correct any mistakes, and submit before the deadline closes on December 2, 2025 (11:50 PM).

Generally, no — photo upload/edit is typically not allowed. Only signature correction may be permitted. However, if NTA flags a discrepancy, special instructions may follow — keep an eye on the official notice.
If you miss the correction window, you will lose the one-time opportunity for edits. You may have to wait for Session 2 application (if allowed) or proceed with the incorrect details, which may affect admit card or eligibility.
