Uses of Convex mirror
We have already learnt that a convex mirror forms a virtual, erect and diminished image. We will now see that by utilizing these properties how convex mirrors are used in different devices.
Side-view mirrors: they are used in automobiles to see the vehicles behind them clearly. Convex mirrors are used in the side-view mirrors of our vehicles.
Why are convex mirrors used in side-view mirrors?
Convex mirrors always form virtual, erect and diminished images. Since the images are upright and diminished in size, we can get a clear view of the vehicles behind us by looking in the side- view mirror. In this way, we can have a better judgment of the traffic behind us.
A convex mirror is used as a side-view mirror
The properties of the image formed by a convex mirror clearly show that a convex mirror can be used in cases where we want a wider field of view of the surroundings. Thus, there are various applications of a convex mirror.
