Right Angle Triangle – Properties and Steps to Draw

    Right Angled Triangle

A right angled triangle is a triangle where one of the angles is 90 degrees. The other two angles are always less than 90 degrees. Right angled triangles have special properties which can be used to solve problems.

Properties of Right – Angled Triangle

    • A right-angled triangle is a triangle with one right angle. The other two angles are acute angles.
    • The three sides of a right-angled triangle are called the short side, the long side, and the hypotenuse.
    • The length of the short side is the opposite side of the right angle.
    • The length of the long side is the adjacent side of the right angle.
    • The length of the hypotenuse is the longest side of the triangle. It is the distance from the right angle to the opposite side.

Steps to Draw a Right-Angled Triangle

    • Step 1: Draw the base of the triangle. This will be the longest side of the triangle.
    • Step 2: Draw the right angle. This will be the side opposite the base of the triangle.
    • Step 3: Draw the height of the triangle. This will be the line from the right angle to the top of the triangle.

    Aim – To Construct a Right-Angled Triangle

    • Step 1: Draw a line with the straight edge or ruler.
    • Step 2: Measure and mark the length of the base of the triangle with the compass.
    • Step 3: Mark the height of the triangle with the compass.
    • Step 4: Draw a line from the base to the height of the triangle.
    • Step 5: Connect the base and the height of the triangle with a right angle.

    Right Triangle Formula

The length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the lengths of the other two sides.

Perimeter of a Right Angle Triangle

The perimeter of a right angle triangle is the sum of the length of its sides.

Area of a Right Angle triangle

    • The area of a right angle triangle is found by using the Pythagorean theorem. The length of the longest side, or the hypotenuse, is squared and then added to the squares of the other two sides.
    • A right angle triangle is a triangle in which one of the angles is a right angle. The other two angles are acute angles. Right angle triangles are always scalene, meaning that they have no congruent sides. The most famous right angle triangle is the 3-4-5 triangle. This triangle has a length of 3 units along its longest side, a length of 4 units along its next longest side, and a length of 5 units along its shortest side. The 3-4-5 triangle is also a right triangle, because the angle at the base is a right angle.
