60,000 Students Skip JEE Advanced 2024

According to experts analyzing data from JEE Advanced organizing institutes over several years, approximately 60,000 out of the 2.50 lakh students who qualify based on JEE Main do not apply for the Advanced exam. The primary reason for this dropout is the 75% eligibility criterion in the 12th board exams. Students who meet the JEE Main cutoff for Advanced but fail to achieve 75% in their class 12 boards become ineligible for IIT admissions, prompting them to forgo the Advanced exam.

Additionally, candidates who completed their class 12 exams before 2023 and those who have exhausted their two consecutive attempts at the Advanced exam are not eligible to participate this year. Admission to IITs will be based on JEE Advanced 2024 ranks and via the JoSAA counselling, registration for which is expected to start on June 10.
