    What is Reflex action?

    Reflex action is an involuntary and spontaneous action in response to a stimulus.

    What is the Process of reflex action?

    • The signal is received by the sense organs and carried by the sensory or afferent neurons to the spinal cord.
    • In the spinal cord, the sensory organ passes the signal to the relay neuron.
    • The relay neuron passes the information from the spinal cord to the motor or efferent neurons. The efferent neurons carry the information to the muscles or effector organs.

    The path followed by the signals in a reflex action is called the reflex arc as it resembles the shape of an arc.
