In the previous segment, we were Introduced to light. In this segment, let us learn about the different laws of reflection of light.

Some terminologies related to reflection of light

A ray of light reflects when incident upon a reflective surface. The following are some terminologies used to understand reflection.

    Incident ray

A ray of light from a light source that strikes any reflective surface is known as an Incident ray.

    Reflected ray

A ray of light that comes back after reflection from a reflective surface is known as a Reflected ray.

    Normal

A perpendicular drawn to the reflective surface at the point where a ray of light is incident is known as Normal.

    Angle of incidence

The angle of incidence is the angle made by the incident ray with the normal. It is denoted as

    ‘i’.
