    The IMA was founded in 1907 as the Indiana Mathematical Association. The first president was C. A. Waldo. The name was changed to the Indiana Section of the Mathematical Association of America in 1941. The name was changed to the Indiana Mathematical Association again in 1977.

    The Indian Mathematical Association (IMA) is a professional society of mathematicians in India. It was founded in 1918, and has around 7000 members.

    The IMA publishes a journal, “The Indian Journal of Mathematics”. It also organizes an annual conference, the Indian Mathematical Congress.

    The IMA is a member of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and the Association for Symbolic Logic (ASL).
