- Viewing 3-D shapes
- What’s Next?
In the first segment of the lesson Visualising Solid Shapes, we will learn how to view 3-dimensional shapes.
Viewing 3-dimensional shapes from different angles
- A solid shape occupies space. So, when a shape is observed from different directions, we may get a different view.
For example, when an empty glass is viewed from the top, all that is seen is a circle. From the front, left, and right, the glass appears like a trapezium, two sides parallel, and two non-parallel.
Different views of a glass
- Some 3D shapes appear the same in their front, side and top view.
For example, when a cube is viewed from the top, only the top face is visible, which is square. Its front view and side view are also squares.

Q. In the figure below, there are four cubes: two red, one yellow, and one blue. How will it be seen from the top, front, and the right view?
