    What are Congruent figures?

Two figures are said to be congruent if they have the same shape and same size.

    Congruent figures

What is the relationship between area and congruency?

    Congruent figures have equal areas

Figures A and B are congruent as they have the same shape and size.

Since they are the exact replica of each other, the area of figure A is equal to the area of figure B.

Figures that have equal areas need not be congruent

    Consider the below figures.

    A B E F

    D C H G
