NEET Biology Syllabus 2026 is not just another document — it is the blueprint that determines whether you clear NEET Exam or not. Biology accounts for 360 out of 720 marks, which is exactly 50% of your total score. No other section comes close. Physics and Chemistry together make up the remaining 50%. This means that a student who masters Biology has already won half the battle before writing a single answer in the exam hall.

The official NEET Biology Syllabus 2026 was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in January 2026, following the guidelines set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The good news for students and droppers: the NEET 2026 syllabus is largely unchanged from 2025, with only minor NCERT-aligned deletions and no full chapter removals. There are no surprise additions or sweeping reductions.

These 8 chapters alone account for approximately 55–65% of all Biology questions in NEET. Prioritize these without exception:

  1. Human Physiology (Units 5 — Class 11): ~18–22 questions (~20–25%) This is the single highest-scoring area in all of NEET Biology. It includes 7 chapters — Digestion & Absorption, Breathing & Exchange of Gases, Body Fluids & Circulation, Excretory Products & Elimination, Locomotion & Movement, Neural Control & Coordination, and Chemical Coordination & Integration. Every single chapter here delivers 2–4 questions consistently. Never skip Human Physiology diagrams — ECG, nephron, neuromuscular junction, and eye structure appear almost every year.
  2. Genetics and Evolution (Unit 7 — Class 12): ~15–18 questions (~17–20%) Molecular Basis of Inheritance is a gold mine — DNA replication, transcription, translation, lac operon, and human genome project questions appear repeatedly. Principles of Inheritance covers Mendelian and non-Mendelian genetics, sex-linked traits, and chromosomal disorders. Genetics combined is the highest-scoring Class 12 unit.

NEET Biology Syllabus 2026: Changes, Deleted Topics & Updates

The NEET UG Biology Syllabus 2026 is largely identical to the 2025 syllabus. The NTA/NMC did not announce any sweeping reductions or new additions. However, based on rationalization of NCERT textbook update certain minor sub-topics are no longer part of the prescribed curriculum. 

Important: No full chapter has been removed from the NEET Biology 2026 syllabus. Deletions are of specific sub-topics only.

Biology is the most scoring section in NEET UG — and also the most manageable, because 90%+ of questions come directly from NCERT lines. Here is a proven, structured strategy to score 340+ in NEET Biology 2026.

Step 1: Master NCERT — Read It Like a Textbook, Not Notes

This is non-negotiable. NEET Biology questions are worded from NCERT sentences. Read Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT Biology cover-to-cover at least 3 times before the exam. Highlight every bold word, every definition, every table, and every exception. Pay special attention to footnotes and boxed text — NTA has pulled questions from these repeatedly.

Step 2: Follow the High-Weightage-First Strategy

Use the weightage table above. Start your preparation in this order:

  1. Human Physiology (all 7 chapters, Class 11)
  2. Genetics and Evolution (all 3 chapters, Class 12)
