What is gametogenesis or define gametogenesis?

Gametogenesis is the process of producing gametes from germ cells. Gametes are the cells that fuse together to form a new organism. Gametogenesis occurs in both males and females, but the process is slightly different in each sex. In males, sperm cells are produced in the testes. In females, eggs are produced in the ovaries.

    Spermatogenesis process

    Spermatogenesis is the process of producing sperm in the testes. The process begins when the cells in the seminiferous tubules, which produce sperm, divide. The cells then move to the epididymis, where they mature. The sperm are then released when the man ejaculates.

    Oogenesis process

    The process of oogenesis begins before birth and continues until menopause. Each month, one of the ovaries releases an egg. The egg is released from a follicle, a small sac that contains the egg and the cells that will nourish it. The egg is swept into the fallopian tube by tiny hair-like projections called cilia. The egg is then fertilized by a sperm cell and implants in the lining of the uterus, where it begins to grow into a baby.

    Ovulation

    is the process in a woman’s menstrual cycle by which an egg is released from the ovary. The egg travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus. If the egg is fertilized by a sperm cell, it will implant in the lining of the uterus and a pregnancy will begin.

    If the egg is not fertilized, it will be expelled from the uterus along with the lining of the uterus during menstruation.

    Fertilisation

    Fertilisation is the process of a sperm cell and an egg cell uniting to form a zygote. The zygote contains the genetic material from both parents and begins to divide, forming a blastocyst. The blastocyst implants in the uterine wall and the embryo begins to develop.
