This entrance exam is annually conducted by the National Testing Agency. NEET 2024 is a crucial step for students aspiring to pursue medical courses after completion of class 12. For this crucial examination, we’ve listed a set of proven tips and tricks from past toppers to help aspirants achieve a score of 160+ in NEET Chemistry.

How to Score 160 Plus in NEET Chemistry?

    Divide the topics

To score 160 or more in NEET Chemistry, start by understanding the syllabus and how the question paper is designed. NEET Chemistry covers three main parts: Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Each part is important and needs a different approach.

Physical Chemistry: This part deals with chemical processes, how fast or slow reactions happen, energy changes in reactions, and the structure of atoms. You need to understand these basics well to tackle the numerical questions of moles, chemical bonding and molecular structure.

It is important and scoring part of NEET 2024 chemistry syllabus.

Inorganic Chemistry: you learn about the properties and behavior of inorganic compounds (like salts), elements, and coordination compounds.

Organic Chemistry: This part focuses on carbon compounds, like those found in living things. You’ll study their structure, properties, and how they react. Understanding organic chemistry is vital, especially for its applications in biology.

Make sure you understand all the reactions and the following steps. Understanding General Organic Chemistry (GOC) is the first step in learning organic chemistry. It is advised to aspirants to finish GOC before starting class 12 organic chemistry. Although NCERT doesn’t have many reaction mechanisms, you should still know almost all the reaction mechanisms mentioned there, like Reimen Teimann and Haloform reactions.

Practice the questions at the back of the NCERT book and the ones within the chapters. After that, you can move on to the NCERT exemplar and coaching modules. This should be enough for NEET preparation.

    Importance of NCERT

NCERT is a good book for the pre-medical exam, but it’s best when used alongside other helpful books. Let’s break it down by section:

    Inorganic Chemistry

NCERT is more than sufficient here! The practice questions at the back of the NCERT book are excellent. You can also do mock tests for extra practice. Avoid using other books for inorganic chemistry.

    Organic Chemistry

NCERT theory is good, but it’s a good idea to also refer to your coaching notes because they might cover additional concepts. For practice, NCERT alone might not be enough. Books like M S CHAUHAN are great for extra practice.

    Physical Chemistry

Personally, I don’t think it’s necessary to rely heavily on NCERT for this section. Physical chemistry requires a lot of practice, similar to physics. Books like N Awasthi and your coaching modules are better for practice.

End Chapters (Environment Chemistry, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life, etc.): These chapters are crucial, and questions directly come from NCERT. Avoid using other books for these chapters. It’s best to study them in the last months of preparation for better retention during the NEET exam.

    Identify Important Topics

Once you’ve got your study plan ready, understood the exam pattern, and chosen your books, the next big step is knowing what’s crucial and focusing on those areas. Smart study with hard work is key to ace NEET 2024. Here are some important topics you should pay more attention to:

    1. Chemical bonding and molecular structure
    2. Thermodynamics
    3. Equilibrium
    4. General organic chemistry (GOC)
    5. Mole concept
    6. Electrochemistry
    7. Coordination compounds
    8. Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic acids
    9. Block elements
    10. Atomic structure
    11. Hydrocarbons

The first few topics are from class 11, while the rest are from class 12. Questions related to Aldehydes, Ketones, and Carboxylic acids usually involve reactions, so pay equal attention to them.

Strategy to Score 95+ in Boards Along with NEET

    Enhance Question Solving Strategy

To score 160 or more in NEET Chemistry, it’s crucial to boost your speed in the Physical Chemistry section. The objective is to practice solving questions regularly to get faster. Make a list of all the important formulas and reactions right from the start of your preparation.

Making a habit to give a glance to this list regularly helps you remember these formulas well, which comes in handy during problem-solving or tests. This strategy helps you tackle Physical Chemistry questions more quickly.

While practicing question solving for the chemistry section, find a strategy that suits you better. Out of 45 questions you can choose to do the theoretical part first and numericals later or vice versa.
