    • Addition of Polynomials
    • What’s Next?

In the previous segment, we learnt how to add and subtract terms. In this segment, we will learn how to add polynomials.

    How to Add two polynomials?

Polynomials can be added similar to simplifying algebraic expressions. That is, group the like terms, solve the groups, and arrange the terms in descending order of exponents, to get the solution.

    For example,

    Consider the two expressions, (5?? + 3?3 − 11?2 + 2)???(7? − 4?? + ?3 − 3)to be added.

    (5?? + 3?3 − 11?2 + 2) + (7? − 4?? + ?3 − 3) = 5?? + 3?3 − 11?2 + 2 + 5?? + 3?3 − 11?2 + 2

    = (5?? − 4??) + (3?3 + ?3) + (−11?2) + (2 − 3) + 7?

    = ?? + 4?3 − 11?2 − 1 + 7?

    = 4?3 + ?? − 11?2 + 7? − 1

    What’s next?

In the next segment of Class 7 Maths, we will learn how to subtract polynomials.
