- What’s Next?
In the previous segment, we learnt about combination and Decomposition reactions. In this segment, we will learn about displacement and double displacement reactions.
What is a Displacement reaction?
The chemical reactions in which less reactive element is displaced from a compound by a more reactive element are known as displacement reactions. These reactions are also called Substitution Reactions.
For example, ??(?) + ?????(??) → ?????(??) + ??(?)
What is a Double Displacement reaction?
The chemical reactions in which the elements of the compounds displace each other are called double displacement reactions. These reactions are also known as Metathesis Reactions.
For example, ????(??) + ?????(??) → ?????(??) + ????(?)

What’s next?
In the next segment of Class 10 Science, we will learn about the effects of oxidation.
