The Prime Minister chairs the Cabinet meetings. If the Prime Minister is absent, the meetings are presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister(if there is one) or the senior most Minister decided by the rank in precedence. The Cabinet is a smaller body formed within the Council of Ministers. It makes effective decisions regarding the policy and administration of the country. It consists of the senior most Ministers who hold important key portfolios like defence, home, etc.
