2 a + 3 b = 2

From first equation we have,

a = \frac{2 b - 10}{3}

Put the value of a in the second equation.
⇒

2 \times \frac{2 b - 10}{3} + 3 b = 2

⇒

4 b - 20 + 9 b = 6

⇒

13 b = 26

∴ b = 2

Putting the value of b in the first equation.
⇒

a = \frac{2 b - 10}{3}

⇒

a = \frac{2 (2) - 10}{3}

⇒

a = - 2

Therefore,

a = - 2

and

b = 2

.
