Na2CO3 is alkaline in an aqueous medium.In an aqueous solution, Na2CO3 converts into NaOH and H2CO3, which is alkaline. Whereas other elements in aqueous do not give a base as a product, so they are not alkaline. The said reaction can be represented as:
