Dog Life Cycle – Anatomy, Reproduction, Life Stages and Diseases

dog-life-cycle

The dog life cycle begins when a female dog becomes pregnant. Puppies are born about 63 days after conception. They are born with their eyes closed and their ears folded down. They weigh about 1.5 ounces and are about 3-4 inches long. They are unable to walk or see and must be cared for by their mother. At about two weeks old, puppies’ eyes open and they start to explore their surroundings. They start to eat solid food at three weeks old and can walk around at four weeks old. They are weaned from their mother’s milk at six weeks old. Puppies are usually sold or given away to new homes at eight weeks old.
