In the previous segment, we calculated the surface area of a tent. In this segment, we will find the volume of a test tube.
How to find the volume of a test tube?
A test tube is a three-dimensional shape of negligible thickness and a combination of a right circular cylinder and a hemisphere.
Test tube
The test tube shape is formed by placing a hollow cylinder on top of the base of the hemisphere. Both these shapes have congruent bases. Hence, the radii of both bases are equal.
So, Volume of Test tube = Volume of the cylinder + Volume of the hemisphere
∴ Volume of Test tube = Volume of the cylinder + ½ (Volume of the sphere)
∴ Volume of Test tube =
∴ Volume of Test tube =
∴ Volume of Test tube =
