In the previous segment, we learnt Three ways of naming angles. We will now learn about
Congruency and pairs of angles that are congruent to each other.
What is Congruency?
Congruency is the term used to signify identical forms. In geometry, two figures or objects having the same shape and size are said to be congruent.
What are Congruent angles?
Congruent angles are the angles having the same measure.
For example, Consider two angles, ∠ABC and ∠PQR, each measuring 45∘Then, ∠ABC and ∠PQR are congruent angles.
Congruent angles ∠ABC and ∠PQR
How to denote congruency?
There are two ways to denote congruency in a pair of angles:
Congruence symbol
When two angles are said to be congruent, the equal sign ( = ) with a tilde ( ∼ ) above it is used to represent congruency ( ≅ ).
