    Sec 60 Degrees – Value and use

    A 60-degree angle is a right angle, which is the most common type of angle. A right angle is formed by two lines intersecting at a 90-degree angle. A 60-degree angle is also a straight angle, which is formed by two lines that are both parallel and have the same length.

    Sec 60o – Derivation of profits or losses

    The section 60o provides for the derivation of profits or losses in the case of a company which is a party to a foreign currency contract. The profits or losses are to be calculated in accordance with the principles set out in the section.

    The first principle is that the profits or losses are to be calculated on the basis of the difference between the contract rate and the spot rate at the time the contract is entered into. This principle is subject to certain modifications which are set out in the section.

    The second principle is that the contract rate is to be treated as the prevailing rate of exchange at the time the contract is entered into.

    The third principle is that the profits or losses are to be calculated on the basis of the exchange difference between the foreign currency and the Indian rupee.
