    What are the International Olympiad Tests?

    The International Olympiad tests are the tests which are subject centered. The tests are organized at a bigger stage and are spread over the nations of the world. The olympiads are organized in different subjects. These are- International Maths Olympiad (IMO), International Science Olympiad (ISO), International English Olympiad (IEO), International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO). Students can participate in any of the Olympiad in which subject they have the most interest or they also have an option to participate in multiple Olympiads also.

    IGKO Exam Dates and Pattern

    The International General Knowledge Olympiad is held in the middle of the year. The IGKO has been conducted online since 2020 due to the pandemic. The test will further be conducted in online mode only till the further notifications. There are two levels of IGKO as discussed below:

    IGKO Level 1: The International General Knowledge Olympiad is for the students of classes 1st to 12th. Duration of the test is 60 minutes. For classes 1st to 4th, there are a total of 35 MCQs and for classes 5th to 12th, there are 50 MCQs.

    IEO Level 2: The second level of the International General Knowledge Olympiad is conducted for the students of classes 3rd to 12th. The following students are eligible to appear in level 2 Olympiad

    • School level: Students achieving a minimum of 50% aggregate in level 1.
    • Zone/ State level: Students who are in the first top 25 rank from each class and zone.
    • International level: Top 5% of the candidates classwise who appeared in level 1 internationally.

    Tips to prepare for The International General Knowledge Olympiad

    Proper planning is required if a student wants to appear in the International General Knowledge Olympiad. Students should solve Previous years question papers and practice in workbooks also to know the pattern of the International General Knowledge Olympiad.     Eligibility for International General Knowledge Olympiad

    To participate in the International General Knowledge Olympiad, eligibility criteria has to be followed:

    • Students studying in the classes 1st to 12th are eligible to participate in the International General Knowledge Olympiad.
    • Students who want to participate can register through their schools and can apply themselves also if the school is unable to do registration or not participating in the Olympiad.

    Selection Process

    There is a selection criteria for the 2nd level of International General Knowledge Olympiad which are:

    • The 2nd level of the International General Knowledge Olympiad is conducted for the students of class 3 onwards.
    • The top 5% of the students from level 1 are selected for level 2.
    • Zonal, those who are in the top 25, are qualified in the selection process.

    Exam Registration

    Students who want to participate in the International General Knowledge Olympiad are required to complete the exam registration process. Students can register through their schools or they can register themselves individually if the school is not participating in the Olympiad.

    If the school is registered with SO, students can collect the prospectus from the School only. A registration fee of INR 125 paid by the students. This is the cost of the Olympiad examination. An extra INR 25 can be charged which is miscellaneous expenses.

    Students having physical disability or the students whose parents got martyred during defense operations are free from any kind of fee. Students must submit the complete fee before the due date.

    Syllabus

    General Awareness Questions related to various topics from history, geography, science, mathematics, etc.
    Current Affairs Questions related to the current affairs and news that are trending and important.
    Life Skills Questions related to common sense and decisions on different circumstances.
    Achievers Section Questions that require deep thinking and the application of two or more concepts to answer.

    Result

    The results of the International General Knowledge Olympiad are declared in the month of March. The mode of the result is online. Students can see the results on the SOF. Students can check their results simply by entering the exam roll number. Students who will qualify level 1 of IGKO are eligible to participate in the level 2 of the International General Knowledge Olympiad.
