    Turmeric solution, usually yellow, is a natural indicator that turns red in the presence of a base. However, it does not show any effect in the presence of acids and neutral substances. So, acidic and basic solutions can be detected after detecting the basic solution NaOH(sodium hydroxide) that turns the yellow turmeric indicator red. If the red colour gets converted back to yellow, it indicates the presence of HCl (hydrochloric acid), which is an acidic solution and neutralises the basic nature of NaOH. On the other hand, if the red color does not change, the added solution is a neutral sugar solution.
