    Summary of Population Chapter 6

Population The importance of the human population in terms of growth and development is discussed in NCERT Geography Class 9. In Social Studies, the population is a critical component. It is the focal point from which all other elements are viewed and their importance and meaning are derived. ‘Resources,’ ‘calamities,’ and ‘disasters’ are all only significant in the context of humans. The following are the three most important points presented in this chapter:

    • Size and distribution of the population
    • Processes of population change and population growth
    • The population’s characteristics or attributes

In this chapter, the population of India has been addressed. People in the country are also concerned about population distribution and population growth. Every year, many media are used to compute the country’s growth rate, and the population is based on it. Death rates, birth rates, and migration are all important factors in population growth and development.

Students will also learn about the literacy rate, sex ratio, occupational structure, teenage population, health, and national population policy in this chapter.
