Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), which used to be called Mithila University, is a well-known public institution in India. It started back in 1972 in a place called Mohanpur House in Sara Mohanpur village, along the Darbhanga-Sakri route. In 1975, it moved to its permanent campus on land owned by Raj Darbhanga in the heart of Darbhanga town. Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) is currently closed and not accepting applications. To decide who gets a spot in their courses, the university holds counselling sessions. LNMU provides a wide range of courses, more than 20 in fact, at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. These courses cover various subjects like Engineering, Science, Law, Arts, Education, and Medicine. The university offers these programs through eight different faculties, along with 43 colleges that are a part of the university and 25 other colleges that are affiliated with LNMU. Additionally, there are two government colleges associated with LNMU, namely Darbhanga Medical College Hospital and Rural Institute in Birouli, Samastipur. LNMU also has a Distance Education program that started in 2005 to help students who can’t attend classes in person.
