Propanol is a colorless, flammable liquid with a characteristic odor. It is the simplest member of the alcohol family and is used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications.
The largest use of propanol is in the production of isopropyl alcohol, which is used as a solvent and in the production of other chemicals. It is also used as a fuel additive to increase octane levels and as a denaturant to make ethanol unfit for human consumption.
