Introduction of Semilunar Valve
The semilunar valves are two valves in the heart that prevent blood from flowing back into the veins and lungs. The semilunar valves are located between the atria and the ventricles, and between the ventricles and the pulmonary arteries and aorta.
The Valves of the Heart
There are four valves in the heart: the mitral valve, the tricuspid valve, the pulmonary valve, and the aortic valve.

Semilunar Valves of the Heart
The semilunar valves are a pair of valves in the heart that allow blood to flow from the ventricles to the aorta and pulmonary trunk. The valves so named because they crescent-shaped. The semilunar valves composed of two leaflets, one for each side of the valve. The leaflets attached to the cusps of the valve, which are in turn attached to the wall of the ventricle. The semilunar valves are opened and closed by the action of the papillary muscles.

The semilunar valves are located at the base of the aorta and the pulmonary trunk. They two crescent-shaped flaps of tissue that open and close to regulate the flow of blood through the heart.
