Reactions and Mechanism of Enzyme Catalysis ;
The enzyme-substrate complex is formed as the enzyme binds to the substrate. This complex is then broken down into two parts, the product and the enzyme. The product is released and the enzyme is ready to bind to another substrate molecule. The reaction is catalysed by the enzyme and it is this that speeds up the reaction.
