    Hassium is a radioactive element with the symbol Hs and atomic number 108. It is a member of the actinide series of elements. Hassium was first created in 1984 by bombarding a target of lead-208 with accelerated deuterons.

    That year, Johann Gottfried Galle, a German astronomer, found Neptune using mathematical predictions made by Urbain Le Verrier, a French astronomer. The discovery was a major event, and Neptune was given its name in tribute to the god of the sea.
