      iii)Accountants were appointed to check the amount collected by the Muqtis.

      iv) They were fixed in a limited number of soldiers. They may have wanted to defy the order of the sultan because restrictions imposed on them were very rigorous.

      Ans. The Mongol invasions weakened the Sultanate as they caused the Sultans to implement a number of expensive protective measures.

Hence, it was obvious that the information provided by themwould lack ordinary men and women.

      Ans. Raziyya Sultan was unique in the history of the Delhi Sultanate. She was more able and qualified than all her brothers. But the nobles were not comfortable with having a queen as ruler. Queen’s rule went against the ideal social order created by God.

      The situation has changed today. Due to the spread of education, people now realize the potential of women. So, they have started accepting them as leaders. Even in rural areas now we see women Sarpanches and Councellors.

      Ans. i)Delhi Sultans were interested in cutting down forests because they wanted to encourage agriculture on the land.
