- What’s Next?
In the previous segment, we learnt about the Branched and ring structure of alkenes and alkynes. In this segment, we will get introduced to the Functional groups.
What are Functional groups?
A functional group is a group of atoms that have an extremely important role in the functionality of the compound in which they are present. That is, they are the group of atoms which have definite properties.
For example, Alcohols, Aldehydes, and Ketones.
What are the different factors that define the properties of carbon compounds?
Properties of carbon compounds depend on two main factors:
- Presence or absence of Single/ Double/ Triple covalent bonds.
- Presence of Functional Groups
