- What’s Next?
In our previous segment, we learned about the three regions of a triangle. We will now learn the classification of triangles.
How are the types of triangles classified?
There are two ways in which the types of triangles can be classified:
- Types of triangles based on angles they subtend
- Types of triangles based on the length of their sides
What are the types of triangles based on the angle?
The different types of triangles based on the angle they subtend are as follows:
Acute-angled triangle
A triangle having all of its interior angles as acute, that is less than \[90^{\circ} \], is known as an Acute-angled triangle.
Acute-angled triangle
Right-angled triangle
A triangle having one of its interior angles as 90∘ is known as a Right-angled triangle. A triangle cannot have more than one right angle.
Right-angled triangle
Obtuse-angled triangle
A triangle having one of its interior angles as obtuse, that is greater than 90∘, is known as an Obtuse-angled triangle.
A triangle cannot have more than one obtuse angles
Obtuse-angled triangle
What are the types of triangles based on the length of the sides?
