Class 10 Maths Statistics Formulas
1. Mean:
The mean of a set of data is the average of the data values. To calculate the mean, add up all the data values and divide by the number of data values.
For example, the mean of the following set of data is 5:
2, 3, 5, 1
To calculate the mean, add up all the data values: 2 + 3 + 5 + 1 = 11
Then divide by the number of data values: 11 / 4 = 2.75
The mean of this set of data is 2.75.
2. Median:
The median of a set of data is the middle value in the set of data. If there is an even number of data values, the median is the average of the two middle values.
For example, the median of the following set of data is 3:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
To calculate the median, list the data values in order:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Then find the middle value: 3
If there is an even number of data values, the median is the average of the two middle values. In this case, the median is the average of 1 and 2, which is 1.5.
