What is a Variable?

A variable is a letter, number, or symbol that stands for a value that can change. For example, in the equation y = 2x + 1, y is a variable because its value can change. In this equation, when x is 3, y equals 7.

    1. Dependent Variables:

    The dependent variables in this study were the anxiety ratings of the participants in both the control and experimental conditions.

    2. Independent Variables:

    The independent variable in this study was the type of music played in the experimental condition.
