Counting Numbers: To count from 1 to 20, we would say:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.
Numbers Used in Counting
When counting, we use cardinal numbers, which are numbers that indicate quantity. We use 1, 2, 3, etc., to count objects. We also use ordinal numbers, which are numbers that indicate position. We use 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., to indicate the order of things.
Counting in Different Ways
There are a few different ways to count in different languages. One way is to count by ones, another way is to count by tens, and another way is to count by fives.
In English, we count by ones, tens, and hundreds. For example, “one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty”. We also have special words for larger numbers, like “thirty-one, fifty-two, seventy-three, one hundred and four”.
In Spanish, they count by ones, twenties, and hundreds. For example, “uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, veinte, treinta, cuarenta, cincuenta, sesenta, setenta, ochenta, noventa”. They also have special words for larger numbers, like “cien, doscientos, trescientos”.

Inclusive Counting
Inclusive counting is a technique used to ensure that everyone in a group is counted, even if they are not easily visible. Inclusive counting is often used in surveys and censuses.
In order to count everyone in a group, the counters begin by counting everyone who is easily visible. They then count everyone who is not easily visible by counting everyone who is within reach. Finally, they count everyone who is not within reach by counting everyone who is closest to the edge of the group.
