    A “minimum” in mathematics is a value that is less than all other values in a set. For example, the minimum value in the set {1, 2, 3, 4} is 1, since it is less than all other values in the set.

    Maxima or Minima of a Function

    A maximum (maxima) of a function is a point where the function produces the largest value within a given interval. A minimum (minima) of a function is a point where the function produces the smallest value within a given interval.
