    Eligibility criteria

    • After qualifying for JEE Advanced, applicants also need to fulfill a few eligibility criteria to enroll in the JEE Advanced counseling procedure. For 2022, students were required to meet the following requirements.
    • Average marks obtained by unreserved category applicants must be at least 75%. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, it must be a minimum of 65%.
    • If a candidate has failed in one or more than one subject in their qualifying exam, they must appear for the same in the same year and clear it to be eligible for participating in the counseling procedure.
    • If the board provides marks for both class 11 and 12 separately in the qualifying examination, the marks secured in 12th will be regarded as valid. If marks provided by the board are an average reflection of marks obtained in both exams, then that total marks obtained will be considered valid for JEE Advanced counseling.

Procedure of JEE Advanced 2023 Counselling and Seat Allotment: A Step-by-Step Guide

In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through the step-by-step procedure of JEE Advanced 2024 counseling and seat allotment. From registration and choice filling to document verification and seat allocation, we will cover all the essential aspects. Let’s dive in and understand the process in detail.

    1. Online Registration: The first step in the JEE Advanced counseling process is online registration. Qualified candidates need to visit the official counseling website and create an account using their JEE Advanced roll number and other required details. During registration, candidates need to provide their personal information, contact details, and other relevant information as per the instructions provided on the website.
    2. Choice Filling and Locking: Once the registration is complete, candidates need to log in to their account and fill in their preferred choices of courses and institutes. It is crucial to carefully select the choices based on personal preferences and available seats. Candidates can choose from a wide range of engineering branches and institutes participating in the counseling process. After selecting the choices, candidates must lock them before the specified deadline. It is important to note that choices can be modified or re-ordered multiple times before the final locking.
    3. Seat Allotment: Based on the choices filled and locked by the candidates, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the seat allotment process. The seat allotment is done considering the candidate’s rank, category, and availability of seats. JoSAA releases multiple rounds of seat allotment results, and candidates are allotted seats based on their merit and preferences. Once the seat allotment results are published, candidates need to log in to their account to check their allotment status.
    4. Acceptance of Seat and Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee: After checking the seat allotment result, candidates who are satisfied with their allotted seat must choose one of the following options: “Freeze,” “Slide,” or “Float.” “Freeze” indicates that the candidate accepts the allotted seat and does not wish to participate in further rounds. “Slide” allows the candidate to accept the allotted seat while considering the possibility of an upgrade in the subsequent rounds. “Float” enables the candidate to accept the allotted seat but also participate in further rounds for better options. Candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee online within the specified timeframe to confirm their acceptance.
    5. Document Verification and Reporting to Reporting Centers: Candidates need to report to the designated reporting centers for document verification. During this stage, candidates must carry all the required documents such as the JEE Advanced admit card, application form, Class 10th and 12th mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), birth certificate, and other relevant documents. The documents will be verified, and candidates will be issued a verification report. It is crucial to ensure that all the documents are in order and match the information provided during the registration process.
    6. Seat Confirmation and Reporting to Allotted Institutes: Once the document verification process is complete, candidates need to log in to their account and download the “Provisional Seat Allotment Letter.” This letter contains details of the allotted institute and course. Candidates must report to the allotted institute within the specified timeframe, complete the admission formalities, and pay the balance admission fees. Upon successful completion of the admission process, the seat allocation is considered confirmed, and the candidate can start their academic journey at the allotted institute.
